Pledge for Education
Along with other fundraising initiatives the GEF has created a program called The Pledge for Education. The goal of this community pledge program is to raise money for an endowment fund. The interest generated from the fund will provide income for both short and long term needs across all levels of education. The GEF is asking for everyone in the community to pledge a given amount of money over a five year period. Your pledge will go directly towards enhancing the level of education at our schools. Already money raised through the GEF has purchased a computer lab for Penn Brook and helped fund the Connect Ed telephone notification system. We have also given $10,000 awarded to educators in Grant Awards.
What is the endowment fund?
One of the GEF’s main agendas is to establish an endowment. The endowment fund will provide a permanent revenue source for grants and to support other activities enriching the educational opportunities of Georgetown’s students. Many endowments are started with a grant or bequest and we hope that such gifts will eventually help ours to grow.
Is my donation tax deductable?
Contributions to the GEF, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible for computing income and estate taxes. Federal tax ID number: 04-3140909
What about matching gifts?
We can’t do this alone. Many of you work for companies who are willing to make matching contributions to their employees. With just a small amount of effort on your end, we can take advantage of this powerful benefit and reach our educational goals quicker. Please check with your HR Department to see if your company can partner with you.
What if I want to honor a teacher?
If there is a beloved teacher who you would like to make your donation in honor of, please indicate their name on the pledge form. We will send a note to the teacher letting them know of your generous donation.
How do I donate?
Please download the Pledge for Education Brochure available here, fill out the back and mail it with your check for the first years donation to: GEF, PO Box 58, Georgetown, MA 01833. You will recieve a charitable gift receipt by return mail. We will also send you a reminder each year to remind you to make your donation for that year.
